Shrinking Violet

During my six month residency at Unit Twelve gallery, as part of the Cultivated programme, I developed a large scale artwork using air-drying clay and an old farm door, found at the farm that Unit Twelve is situated at.

The large green door was the perfect substrate to work upon with the clay. Over several months the installation grew and was displayed for a month in the final Cultivated exhibition at Unit Twelve.

Again inspired by the ideas of overwhelm and the feelings surrounding depression and anxiety, I incorporated part of a face, heavily encrusted by lichen in the window of the door and named the piece 'Shrinking Violet'.
